The Bessies

How To Enter Online

This year's Entries will be completed using this website. Entering spots will follow the same process as previous years with the exception of the entry forms being completed online. To enter your spots for the 2011 Bessies simply follow the steps below. If you have any difficulties or questions about entering this year's Bessies please check the Frequently Asked Questions or email bessies@adbeast.com.

Step 1 - Register

Before entering your spots you must register on the site. Registering is as simple as completing an online form which includes your contact information and a password of your choice. Once you register we will send you a confirmation email with your registration details.

By registering, the website will be able to track your progress and allow you to complete one or more entries without re-entering your information each time. You will also be able to see what spots you have submitted, a running total of your entry fees as well as being able to save your work In Progress and complete it at your discretion.

Step 2 - Create Entries

Once registered, you will have the ability to enter spots for this year's show. Once logged in, simply click the "Enter Single Spot" or "Enter Campaign" button. Complete the form that loads with as much detail as possible as this information will be used in the Winner's book should the entry win an award.

When submitting your video spots online, click the (file icon) next to the associated In Progress entry. You may upload a "muxed" MPEG - 2 file (1 file with both audio and video) or a separate video (.m2v) and audio (.aiff) files. Until you submit your entry you may change your uploaded files at any time.

You can complete as many entries as you like. When each entry is complete, submit it by simply clicking "Submit".

Features to take note of:

  1. You can save an incomplete entry at any time and return to complete it a later time.
  2. You may delete an In Progress entry at any time.
  3. You can view the details of a submitted entry or In Progress entry by selecting it from your personal list on your summary page.
  4. Once submitted, an entry cannot be deleted.
  5. Your entries fees will be automatically calculated and fees must be paid by cheque, sent to the TVB along with a printed entry confirmation form.

Step 3 - Submit Spots Online

This year entrants must submit their spots online.

Only DVD quality MPEG - 2 files will be accepted for spot submission. Files that do not adhere to the specification will not be accepted. If you have questions about creating or uploading video files contact bessies@adbeast.com

MPEG - 2 files may be uploaded in one of two formats::

  1. as a multiplexed file (combined audio and video = 1 file)
    Program Stream
    MPEG Layer2 Audio
    MPEG-2 Video
    7000 kbps
    NTSC
    Aspect Ratio 4:3 or 16:9
  2. as 2 separate files (one .m2v video file and one aiff audio file)
    Video
    • .m2v
    • NTSC
    • Aspect Ratio 4:3 or 16:9
    • 7.0 Mbps
    Audio
    • .aiff
    • 48.000 KHz

Please ensure you indicate which type of video file(s) you will be uploading by selecting the appropriate option.

Note: the files can be deleted and re-uploaded until entry has been finalized and submitted.

Step 4 - Submit Your Entries

Once the entry form for a particular spot or campaign has been completed you submit the entry by selecting (clicking) the specific entry on your summary page, review the information and click "submit" (button at bottom of form). After clicking "Submit", a confirmation page will be displayed with all the relevant Registration information for the submitting agency as well as all the spot or campaign information. If all the information is correct simply click "Confirm Entry." You will then be prompted to print the page. Please include this page with your cheque. Your summary page will be updated to reflect the submitted entry.
